Money

In the Republic of Moldova leus are used for making buyings. In the shops US dollars and euros are not taken. However there are many places you may exchange money in. The ATMs are widely spread. However the interest is taken for cashing if the ATM and a card are from different banks. Some shops take cards but the majority don’t. So, you should always have cash if you go shopping or if you just go somewhere. In public transport they take just cash.

Tips

In the majority of bars and restaurants tips are not included into the bill. If they are included that’s always written. When the tips are not included you may leave some money to waiter. There’s no fixed share. However usually people leave not more than 5 percent. Less share is also possible. You may give tips just in case if you liked the work of waiter. Otherwise you shouldn’t give any tips. Remember that’s not obligatory to give tips in Moldova.

Languages

The official language of Moldova is Romanian which is refered to as Moldovan. However both Romanian and Russian are widely spread in the country. If you speak at least one of these languages you will not have any problems because you will be understood everywhere: in shops, in the public transport, on the streets if you want to ask how to go somewhere and so on. However if you don’t speak nor Russian nor Romanian it would be more difficult to you to explain what do you want. Of course some people speak other languages in Moldova too. From foreign languages (apart from Russian) the most widely spoken is English. Turkish, German, Spanish, Italian, French are also spoken by certain people. However even if you don’t speak Russian and Romanian Moldovan people will take all their efforts to understand you and to explain you everything you want.

Best time to come

Moldova is a country wich is like others especially beautiful when the nature lives. We consider the best time for coming to be early autumn. When nature doesn’t sleeps yet but it’s also not extremely hot. Summers are hot here. So, if you don’t like the heat it’s better to wait for autumn. On autumn you may also eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, which grow here. At the second Sunday of October here’s Wine Day. So, you may become a spectator of that event too. So, if you want to see nature beauty of Moldova, to try local fruits and vegetables and to understand the importance of wine production in the Republic you should choose autumn as time for your visit.

Республика Молдова – страна месторасположение которой географы определяют как юго-восточная Европа, но если смотреть объективно то Республика Молдова находится именно в центральной Европе расположившись на равном удалении от Уральских гор на Востоке и от границы Атлантического океана на Западе, также как от Средиземноморья на юге и от Скандинавии на севере Европы. Тем самым Молдова является узловым центром между Востоком и Западом, равно как и между Скандинавией и Средиземноморьем с Балканами. Кроме того Молдова находится на на крайнем юго-западе Восточно-Европейской равнины, и занимает бо́льшую часть междуречья Днестра и Прута, а также узкую полосу левобережья Днестра в его среднем и нижнем течении. Не имея выхода к морю, страна географически тяготеет к причерноморскому региону, при этом у Молдавии есть выход к Дунаю (протяжённость береговой линии – менее 1 км). С нею граничат два соседних государства Украина на востоке и Румыния на западе. Государственная территория Молдовы составляет 33,7 тыс. км². Наибольшая протяженность с севера на юг примерно 350 километров, с запада на восток 150 километров. Крайние точки границ: на севере – село Наславча, на юге – село Джурджулешты, на западе – село Крива, на востоке – село Паланка.

Ландшафты Молдовы необычайно привлекательны представляя собой холмистую равнину, расчлененную речными долинами. С Севера на Юг как и я Запада на Восток Молдова представлена одним ландшафтом Восточно-Европейской равнины. Северная часть страны более холмиста в отличие от южной для которой характерны озёра, маленькие речушки и прочие водоёмы. Все реки Молдовы относятся к бассейну Чёрного моря, самые крупные из которых Днестр и Прут.

Климатически Молдова расположена умеренно континентальной зоне воздействия умеренных ветров Средиземноморья. Большие температурные колебания редки. Осадки выпадают во все времена года. Зима мягкая, короткая, лето жаркое, продолжительное. Средняя температура января – 4°C, июля +21 °C. Абсолютный минимум -36°С, максимум +41 °C. Среднее годовое количество осадков колеблется в пределах 380 – 550 мм.

Численность населения Молдовы составляет приблизительно 3,400 тыс. человек, а по плотности населения – 111,4 чел. на км². В Европе Молдова одно из малонаселенных государств, что может быть обусловлено сравнительно малой площадью страны. Население распределено по территории Молдовы весьма равномерно.

Молдавский народ сформировался в основном из различным племен северных фракийцев к которым относились: геты (проживавшие с обеих берегов Дуная, в Добрудже и Молдове), тирагеты (проживавшие в басеине Днестра), карпы (проживавшие в центральной Молдове), костобоки (проживавшие в северной Молдове), даки (проживавшие во внутрикарпатской зоне и на Западе Трансильвании) и др. Греческие античные авторы, начиная с шестого века до н.э. называют все племена, проживавшие в Карпатско – Дунайском регионе и имевшие один и тот же язык, происхождение и культуру, гетами. Этноним – даки впервые встречаются в середине первого века до н.э в работе Цезаря о галльском войне. Историки с прошлого столетия и по сегодняшний день используют двойное название гето-даки.

На сегодняшний день в Республике Молдова проживают представители нескольких народов и этнических групп, из них: 64,5 % – молдаване, 13,8 % – украинцы, 13 % – русские, другие этнические группы (гагаузы, болгары, евреи, белорусы, немцы и др.). Большая часть населения проживает в сельской местности, городское население составляет 45 %. Самыми большими городами Республики Молдова являются ее столица Кишинэу (более 700 тыс. жителей); Тирасполь (приб. 200 тыс.); Бэлць (160 тыс.); Бендеры (140 тыс.).

The apartment is located in the sector Telecentru not far from the sector Centru. It is very close to public transport which goes to the different sectors of the capital. Using public transport it is possible to reach city center within 7 minutes. There are some groceries close to the apartment.

Деньги

В Республике Молдова используется такая валюта, как леи. В магазинах берут только леи. Американские доллары и евро не принимаются, как и любая другая валюта, кроме леев. Однако, существует много пунктов обмена валют, поэтому получить молдавские леи – не проблема.

Банкоматы в стране широко распространены, однако, следует знать, что если банкомат и используемая карточка от разных банков, то удерживается определенный процент банком, которому принадлежит данный банкомат. В некоторых магазинах к оплате принимаются карточки, но не во всех. В Молдове всегда необходимо иметь при себе наличные, так как в большинстве мест к оплате принимаются только наличные (например, в общественном транспорте).

Чаевые

Почти во всех барах и ресторанах Молдовы чаевые в счет не включены. Те места, которые составляют исключение, обязательно указывают в счете процент и сумму чаевых. Если же чаевые не включены, то можно оставить официанту определенную сумму. В Молдове нет установленного процента чаевых, поэтому все остается на усмотрение клиента. Чаевые оставлять вовсе не обязательно. Это делается только в том случае, если клиент остался доволен работой официанта и хочет его поблагодарить за оказанное внимание.

Языки

Официальным языком Республики Молдова является румынский, который на данной территории называют молдавским. В стране, в основном, говорят на 2-х языках: на русском и на румынском. Если Вы говорите хотя бы на одном из этих языков, у Вас не будет проблем, так как Вас поймут везде: и в магазинах, и в транспорте, и просто на улице, если Вы спросите, как пройти или проехать. Однако, если Вы этих языков не знаете, то Вам будет сложнее разобраться. Конечно, в Молдове люди говорят на иностранных языках. Самым распространенным является английский. И вполне вероятно, что Вы получите ответ на вопрос на английском, немецком, итальянском, испанском, французском и т.д. Молдаване всегда приложат все усилия, чтобы понять Вас. Даже если Вы говорите на незнакомом им языке.

Когда лучше приехать

На наш взгляд, лучшим временем для приезда в Молдову является ранняя осень, когда природа еще не погрузилась в спячку, но в то же время уже и не слишком жарко. Летом в Молдове очень жарко. Поэтому если Вы не любите жару, то лучше дождаться осени. Осенью также созревают фрукты и овощи, поэтому будет возможность их попробовать. Во второе воскресенье октября проходит Национальный день вина. Вы можете выбрать и этот период для визита, чтобы стать свидетелем или участником этого события. In Republic of Moldova as well as in all countries of the former USSR the Orthodox Church has the greatest value in republic; it covers more then 96 % of orthodox Christian’s population of the country. As to the population of the country in Republic of Moldova exists freedom of an accessory to any religion and it is guaranteed by Constitution of RМ (1991). It is precisely told, that every citizen has the right to profess freely religious belief as individually as in the society, and also to distribute this belief, to send privately or publicly the cult in the case if it does not contradict to the law of the country- to the Constitution of Republic Moldova. And on the whole territory of Moldova safely lives common two world religions: Christianities and Judaism. Christians of Moldova has totally about 1035 churches, 35 monasteries and 7 skitoves. Totally, the number of its attendants is about 5000 people: priests, clerks, trustees.

The leader of Orthodox Church in Moldova is Metropolitan of Kishinev and of the whole Moldova- Eminence Vladimir – head Mitropolii of Moldova (www.mitropolia.md). The Mitropolia of Moldova includes four dioceses: Kishinev, Cahul and Lapushna, Bricheni, Dubassari and Tiraspol – on the left protect river Dnestr, and also operating vikariat in the north of Republic Moldova in the city Beltsy.

The number of educational theological institutions in Republic counts totally five basic institutions: Theological Academy at the State University in Republic of Moldova in Kishinev – capital of the country, Theological Seminary at monastery Nolu Neamts in village Kitskan. And also two specialized lyceums: Spiritual Lyceum for girls at monastery Surucheni, and Spiritual Lyceum for boys at monastery “Christians Christmas”, situated at the territory of village Zebricheni.

Republic of Moldova is the country location of which is defined by geographers like ‘South-East Europe’. However if to be above the battle Republic of Moldova is really situated in Central Europe being equally distant from Ural Mountains on the East and Atlantic ocean on the West as well as from Mediterranean on the South and Scandinavia on the North of Europe. Moldova has common border with 2 states: Ukraine on the East and Romania on the West. Territory of Moldova covers 33700 sq. km. The most northerly point is village Naslavcea; the most southerly point is village Giurgiuleşti; the most westerly point is village Criva; the most easterly point is village Palanca.

Moldovan sceneries are extraordinary picturesque. They represent hilly river-cut plain. Moldova is represented by East European Plain scenery both from North to South and from West to East. Northern part of country is more hilly if compare to the Southern one which is distinguished by lakes, rivulets and other tanks. All rivers in Moldova belong to Black Sea basin. The biggest rivers are Dniester and Prut.

Climatically Moldova is situated in temperate continental zone of Mediterranean temperate winds. Big temperature fluctuations are rare. Precipitation occurs all the year long. Winters are green and short; summers are hot and longstanding. Average temperature in January is -4C and in July +21C.Absolute minimum is -36C; absolute maximum is +41C. Average annual precipitation fluctuates between 380 mm and 550 mm.

Ethicon ‘Dacians’ for the first time is mentioned in the middle of the 1st century BC in ‘The Commentaries of Caesar’ (about Gallic War). Historians use double name “Getae-Dacians” from 19th century till modern times.
