Visas are issued by representatives of diplomatic missions and consular sections of Republic of Moldova in other countries.
Transit and short-term visas may be obtained as an exception in the consular sections on the following customs stations on the entrance to RM: International Chisinau Airport, Leuseni, Cahul, Sculeni.

Preparation of a visa
There are the following types of visas: business visa, diplomatic visa, common visa, tourist visa, transit visa. Visa may be issued for 1, 2 or many entries to the republic.

These visas are given to officers of state who accomplish the formal visit.

These visas are given to foreign citizens by invitation. The visa is given to people who want to visit friends or relatives in Moldova.

These visas are given to foreign citizens who come to the country with tourist visit. It may be single or double entry visa and the maximum period is 1 month.

Transit visas
These visas are given to foreign citizens who need to drive through the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This type of visa enables to enter the Republic of Moldova once in a month. Maximum time of staying in the country is 48 hours.

Validity of visa can’t be more than 1 year. Period of stay in the Republic of Moldova can’t exceed 90 days. If the visa wasn’t used during the noticed period it isn’t prolonged and consular fees are not returned.

Foreigners should register their passports domiciliary during 3 days. Diplomats, mass-media representatives and representatives of other international organizations should register in Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Basarabeasca is a city on the south of Moldova on 46°20’N, 28°58’E. It is situated on the border with Ukraine. The city is a center of Basarabeasca district. River Cogilnic runs through the city. It flows into Black sea.
On the place where nowadays Basarabeasca is situated there appeared village in 1846. It was Jewish colony. The village was called Romanovka. Here lived 86 Jewish families. They all tilled the ground. Late some families started to practice winemaking, crafts and commerce.
At the end of XIX century there was synagogue and heder in the village. The population of the village little by little grew. The first school was opened here in 1899. At the beginning it consisted of one single class.
At the early XX century there was built a railway station not far from the village. A new railway station was called Basarabeasca. In this period the village is characterized by fast developing. A new synagogue is built, in some houses there appear telephones… In 1923 this village was considered to be a big one. Here were 690 houses, school, drug store, retail outlets and so on.
The village became a city and was renamed into Basarabeasca in 1957 when it was united with former German colony located not far from it.
Nowadays in Basarabeasca live about 11 000 people. The city is divided into regions (Romanovka, Flaminda and others). Three lyceums work in the city. The city also has its own TV channel and radio station.

Chisinau is the capital of Moldova. It is the largest city of the country and its political, administrative, economical and cultural centre.
Where the name of Chisinau derives from? The most spread version is that the name of the city derived from “chisla noua” that means “new spring” if to translate from Romanian. It is considered that the spring around which the city was built is situated on the corner of Pushkin and Albisoara streets.
Chisinau has its own emblem and flag. They’ve changed for several times . Today emblem was designed after Bessarabia was joined to Romania. It represents escutcheon with a golden eagle on the azure background on it. The eagle has pectoral escutcheon on which there’s emblem of Moldovan principality (head of the bull, star, rose and half-moon). This emblem was restored after USSR dissolution. The modern flag of Chisinau represents white cloth with the emblem of the city situated on the center of it. The emblem is laid over semiabstract twigged line of white and brown flowers.
Chisinau is situated in the centre of the republic on the river Bic. The city lies on the seven hills and it occupies the territory of around 120 sq. km. In Chisinau there are 23 lakes which are mostly situated in the parks.
The capital of Moldova is considered to be one of the greenest cities in Europe. There are many parks in the city and the trees grow on almost every street. In the parks live about 14 species of birds and 14 species of amphibians. There also live some mammals. In the lakes also live fishes.
Nowadays the population of Chisinau is more than 700 000 inhabitants. However it was much less. Chisinau was rather a village than a city. In 1774 the population of Chisinau amounted just 600 inhabitants. Since that times population of Chisinau constantly grew up till the USSR dissolution. Since the USSR dissolution the population of Chisinau started to decrease. However anyway today Chisinau is the largest city in Moldova in terms of number of inhabitants. As the population grew the city also grew in its territory and in a certain time there appeared need to divide city in sectors. Nowadays Chisinau is divided into 5 sectors: Centru (translated from Romanian as “center”; this is the oldest part of the city), Riscani, Botanica, Ciocana and Buiucani.
For the first time Chisinau was mentioned in historical documents on 17 July 1436. It got status of a city in 1818 soon after becoming a part of Russian Empire. Chisinau became a capital city in 1940 when there was established Moldavian Soviet Socialistic Republic. After USSR dissolution Chisinau was declared to be the capital city of Moldova and it is the capital city till nowadays.
Chisinau changed a lot since its establishment. There was no need at the beginning in transport as the populations was quite small. However then appear trams, then the trams were pushed out by trolleybuses. Now there are several means of public transport in Chisnau: buses, trolleybuses and jitneys. Chisinau is connected to other localities in Moldova and also to other countries. The connection with other localities is accomplished mostly by buses. However there’s also train connection. Entry to the Republic of Moldova is accessible to any willing people. It has a certain form and entry and stay rules for people from other countries. Foreign and stateless citizens may obtain entry visas to Republic of Moldova in diplomatic and consular missions of RM only if they have invitation given by Department of migration apart from the cases which are provided by the current law or bilateral agreement in this sphere.
Invitation is a document obtained by foreign and stateless citizens. It confirms their right to get visa to Republic of Moldova in diplomatic and consular missions of RM and in customs consular sections. Invitation is strictly accountable document which is unified on the territory of the republic. It is valid during the period noticed in it upon the condition that all notes are legible and have no corrections.
The right to invite foreign and stateless citizens for temporary stay is given to competent individuals who are residents of Moldova and are not younger than 18 years old. Juridical persons which are registered in the order described by the laws also have this right.
The base for lending the invitation may be application by a physical body or intercession by juridical person or its official representatives. Applications or intercessions should be presented in a set of three. In application there are specified data of inviting person: first name, last name, citizenship, date and place of birth, identification number, data of identity card (type, serial number, data of issuing and validity), residence address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail. The application should be followed by the copy of identity card of inviting person.
In the case if foreign or stateless citizen is invited for permanent living in the country (husband, wife, parents, children) inviting physical bodies should give accordance to accommodate assured by notary.
In the intercession there also should be specified data of inviting person: full title of the organization, institution or enterprise, its type; the first name and the last name of director, reference number; state identification number “IDNO”; legal address (with telephone and fax numbers); office address (with telephone and fax numbers and e-mail).
Application and intercession should specify also data of the invited person: first name, last name, citizenship, date and place of birth, place of permanent living, data of identity card (type, serial number, data of issuing and validity), trip goal (tourism, studying, to the family, work, business), place of procurement of visa, data about entry to the country and customs station, duration of stay, data about previous visits of Moldova, data about medical insurance.
While the application or intercession is given inviting person is instructed about rules of stay of foreign or stateless citizens in the Republic of Moldova, about their responsibility to come to the local bureau of accounting and documentation of the population of Information Technology Department for registering national documents. S/he is also instructed about responsibility of inviting person to recharge expenses which are concerned with excitement from the country, reducing the period of stay and in other cases which are provided by current legislation.
After accomplishing all necessary examinations and receiving conclusions employee of Department of migration, responsible for examination the application (intercession) makes one of the following decisions: a) give an invitation
b) refuse in giving an invitation
The decision is being written on the back side of application or intercession.
The invitation is being written in the official language. Form of an invitation is performed on a paper of A4 format with protection chars. On the top part of the invitation national emblem and the title of organization giving the invitation is drawn. In the invitation there are specified: serial number, date of issuing, validity, first and last names of invited person; citizenship, date of birth, sex, data of identity card and its validity; trip goal, personal data about under-age children; place of procurement of visa, data about entry to the country and customs station, duration of stay; data of the inviting person.
Invitation is being written one-shot, which is given to petitioner or official representative with the signature on the back side of the application (intercession). Validity of the invitation is 6 months from the date of issuing.

Срок визы не может превышать 1 год. Период пребывания на территории РМ не может превышать 90 дней. Если виза не была использована в течении указанного срока, то виза не продлевается и консульские сборы не возвращаются.

Иностранцы должны зарегистрировать в течении 3 дней свои паспорта по месту жительства. Дипломаты, представители масс-медия и других международных организация должны зарегистрироваться в МИД.
